The FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) phenomenon is growing among Generation Z along with the increasing use of social media, which often affects their psychological well-being. This study aims to explain the social construction of FOMO among Generation Z and its impact on their mental health. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design to explore how FOMO is formed in social interactions, especially those influenced by social media, and its implications for psychological well-being. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Generation Z, social observers, psychologists, and social media user behaviour observations. The research findings show that FOMO often arises due to social comparisons that occur on digital platforms, leading to feelings of anxiety, stress, and low levels of life satisfaction. This study provides important insights into how FOMO can affect the psychological well-being of Generation Z and how awareness of its impact can be a first step to reducing its adverse effects.
